Weekend Storm Alert: Powerful Winds Expected Saturday Morning

Friday brought a stretch of gorgeous weather, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the 60s and 70s. But as forecasted, an intense storm system arrived right around midnight, ushering in heavy rain and strong winds. By 2 a.m., the storms had pushed out of the area.

By 2:30 a.m., all severe weather alerts had expired, but the impact was already being felt. Widespread power outages were reported, especially in Jefferson and Waukesha counties. Kenosha, Walworth, and Washington counties each had more than 1,000 customers left in the dark.

Weekend Storm Alert: Powerful Winds Expected Saturday Morning

A High Wind Warning is in effect for Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties from 7 a.m. to noon, with gusts potentially reaching 60 mph. Additional power outages are possible.

A Wind Advisory covers all of southeastern Wisconsin from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

Some storms could turn severe, bringing strong straight-line winds capable of causing damage. While the risk of tornadoes is low, a brief, isolated spin-up can’t be ruled out.

Overnight, rain and storms will continue, accompanied by gusty winds. Strong winds will persist through much of Saturday before gradually easing later in the day. If wind speeds intensify, a wind advisory may be issued. Stay weather-aware and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.

Temperatures will soar well above average today, peaking in the mid-70s by the afternoon. As the sun sets, expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop.
